INSURANCE ADMINISTRATOR / UNDERWRITER
Location: Columbus, OH | Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, In Office
Salary: $95,000–$105,000 + Benefits
Experience: 3–5+ years of life insurance experience
Licensing: Active Ohio Life Insurance License + Series 6/7 required
We are seeking an established Life Insurance Underwriting professional with experience handling high-net-worth (HNW) cases and strong relationships with insurance carriers.
This is a highly autonomous role with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will bring a proven background in life insurance underwriting, strong carrier relationships, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently manage complex cases from application through policy delivery and administration.
• Manage the life insurance underwriting process from application through policy delivery
• Underwrite and coordinate high-net-worth cases with insurance carriers
• Serve as a key liaison between clients, carriers, advisors, Compliance, and internal teams
• Leverage established carrier relationships to coordinate underwriting and resolve issues efficiently
• Assemble required forms and documentation and provide instructions to clients
• Create and maintain accurate underwriting files and CRM/client records
• Coordinate physical exams and obtain required Attending Physician Statements (APS)
• Submit final applications, regulatory documentation, client data, and illustration designs
• Prepare policy delivery books and confirm initial premiums and billing
• Ensure all carrier delivery requirements are completed promptly
• Manage ongoing policy service requests and monitor policy funding
• Request in-force illustrations and assist with annual policy reviews
• Address policy questions and identify potential policy improvements
• Process monthly billing and assist with lapsed policy fees
• Coordinate with the CFO regarding production, policy service, and premium payment information
• Prepare weekly status reports and participate in administrative/underwriting meetings
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, policies, and operational efficiency
Required:
• 3–5+ years of life insurance experience
• Proven experience underwriting HNW life insurance cases
• Active Ohio Life Insurance License
• Series 6 or Series 7 license
• Established insurance carrier relationships
• Proven track record as an established life insurance professional
• Bachelor’s degree / undergraduate degree
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong technology skills and CRM proficiency
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
