The City of Gardner Building Department is seeking a Local Building Inspector. The Local Inspector will work under the administrative directive of the Building Commissioner in accordance with applicable provisions of the Massachusetts general laws and local ordinances. The Local Building Inspector will perform highly responsible functions of a technical nature requiring considerable judgment in the application interpretation and enforcement of the Massachusetts building codes zoning ordinances and other applicable regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Click the link for a list of employee benefits: Minimum of 5 years of verifiable construction supervisory experience in building construction or design. Current Construction Supervisors License (CSL) strongly preferred. Applicant may also have a 2 yr. associate degree in a field related to building construction or design. Must have BOCC approval to test in order to be considered for a conditional offer.
Ability to work effectively under time constraints and meet to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft windows environment and other required to work on and prioritize several on-going have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with the general public as well as with other City and Commonwealth to work perform all aspects of job responsibilities with honesty and have a valid drivers light to moderate physical effort required to perform inspections. Must be able to access all areas of a construction site. Frequently required to spend several hours walking or standing.
