Job Description
We are hiring a Packaging Designer to join a top beauty company in NYC. This freelance position will be running for 3 months with potential to extend and will be hybrid in their NYC office.
Responsibilities:- Lead packaging design strategy across all categories - from eyes to foundation to lip
- Pioneer sustainable packaging that's beautiful andresponsible - recycle ready, eco-materials, reduced waste
- Create innovative design systems that balance brand consistency with category / franchise -specific needs
- Deliver "unboxing moments" that trend on TikTok and drive consumer obsession
- Develop packaging concepts that marry consumer insights with breakthrough design thinking
- Leverage modern design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, 3D rendering, and AI programs like Adobe Firefly) to enhance creative workflows
- Partner with engineers to optimize manufacturability and material efficiency (your technical knowledge shines here)
- Collaborate across teams—Marketing, Operations, Regulatory, Product Development—to align vision with execution
- Manage timelines and budgets like a pro, keeping projects on track without sacrificing quality
- Build and nurture relationships with internal teams, external agencies, and vendor partners
- Create packaging for new launches, redesigns, seasonal sets, and limited editions
- Develop 2D/3D renderings (AI-generated and traditional) that communicate design intent flawlessly
- Own the Packaging Design Rulebook—guardian of brand codes, champion of consistency
- Present to stakeholders with conviction, selling in bold ideas grounded in strategy
- Train on AI design tools, prompt engineering, and sustainable practices
- Scout and onboard freelancers and agencies who elevate our game
- Foster collaboration and creativity across all touchpoints
Required Qualifications:- 3+ years of experience in packaging design, ideally in the beauty space
- Advanced prompt engineering, particularly Adobe Firefly
- Sustainability mastery: Circular design, eco-materials, environmental impact
- Adobe Creative Suite prowess: Plus 3D rendering tools
- Leadership skills: You inspire teams, manage projects, and build consensus
- Production knowledge: Materials, print techniques, manufacturing realities
