Job Description

Description:

Northern Manufacturing is an established custom metal fabrication company specializing in complex, made-to-order products. With more than 160 employees in Oak Harbor, Ohio, our operation combines the complexity of custom manufacturing with the stability of a company that's been in business for more than 75 years.

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to help keep the financial side of our operation running just as smoothly as the shop floor. This is a hands-on role with a lot of variety and ownership. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day accounting cycle, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting. You'll work closely with company leadership and across the organization, giving you visibility into the business behind the numbers.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on full-cycle accounting, takes ownership of their work, and appreciates the variety that comes with supporting a custom manufacturing operation. If you want to see how your work connects to the bigger picture, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles, including invoicing, payment processing, progress billing, customer payments, and deposits.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and periodic bonuses, including related payroll accounting and routine tax responsibilities.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and other closing entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for leadership review and banking requirements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules for revenue, progress billing, customer deposits, and other accounting activity.
  • Prepare routine state and local tax filings, track applicable deadlines, and coordinate required payments.
  • Support year-end close and coordinate with our outside accounting firm on corporate tax matters, year-end adjustments, fixed assets, and other complex accounting matters.
  • Complete required financial and compliance reporting and work with leadership and other departments to gather information needed for accurate and timely accounting.

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Benefits: Northern Manufacturing offers a comprehensive benefits package, including...

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance effective on your first day of employment
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • 401(k) with company match, available after 90 days of employment
  • Annual profit-sharing contribution to your 401(k)

At Northern Manufacturing Co., we're committed to building a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Background checks may include verification of employment and education history, criminal records, and other job-related information and are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and with the candidate's written consent.

Northern Manufacturing Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. This policy is in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 52.222-26 – Equal Opportunity.

We appreciate your interest in joining the Northern Manufacturing team.

  • 2+ years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting and month-end close; full-cycle accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals; experience with AP, AR, and payroll is a plus.
