Summary:

Messerli Kramer, a trusted Twin Cities law firm since 1965, is looking for a full-time, SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST to join our team in Plymouth, MN to serve as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams. This role is responsible for identifying business needs, analyzing processes, gathering requirements, and supporting the successful implementation of technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, client service, compliance, and business performance.

The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and experienced in translating complex business challenges into actionable requirements. This individual will work closely with legal, collections, accounting, compliance, client services and technology teams to drive strategic initiatives, process improvements, system enhancements, reporting solutions, and automation opportunities.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Partner with stakeholders, attorneys, and business services staff to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for new initiatives, systems, and process improvements.
  • Develop clear business requirements documents, process maps, functional specifications, and user acceptance criteria for operational and technology projects.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to define requirements, facilitate system upgrades, integrations, and data migrations, and translate business needs into detailed functional specifications that enable development teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Scrum Agile methodologies, serving as a key liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams to define requirements, prioritize work, and ensure successful sprint outcomes.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, interviews and requirement gathering sessions.
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and tools such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization platforms is a plus and can help support trend analysis, solution validation, and business decision-making.
  • Manage stakeholder communication throughout project lifecycles, including requirements gathering, testing, training, and post-implementation support.
  • Support standardization of business processes, including training materials, documentation, and end-user adoption strategies.
  • Mentor junior analysts (future) and contribute to the continuous improvement of the firm's business analysis practices and standards.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive business analysis experience; experience within a law firm, financial services, or other professional-services environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering requirements and managing analysis workstreams for systems implementations or process improvement projects.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred, though not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including attorneys and firm leadership.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience running requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and cross-functional working sessions.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive firm and client information.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This role operates in a professional office setting, routinely working with standard office equipment. Generally, due to the nature of this office position, the person in this role would be required to talk and hear, sit or stand for long period of time, and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel. Occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hand, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

Wage Disclaimer: The starting wage range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000/year
